Any business handling cash, whether it's big or small, or hold or control desirable items such as drugs, tobacco and alcohol are at significant risk of armed robbery. It is therefore essential that measures are put into place to reduce this risk and any possible threat to safety and well - being of staff and customers.

It is also necessary for all staff in small business to be conversant with how they should act during an armed incident. The risk of robbery should in reality be managed the same as any other business risk through clear policies, procedures, training and accountability.

With higher unemployment rates and the economy in a recession, the incidence of armed robbery is on the increase. Any organisation with cash or desirable goods can be targeted by armed robbers.
